Each Huichol piece shown on Gallery del Sol is hand made in the classic tradition of the Huichol people. A base form is created from wood or clay and coated with a thin layer of beeswax. The artisan then presses the glass or plastic beads, one by one, into the beeswax, creating the unique patterns and symbols reflective of the Huichol culture.
This stunning bear carries a wooden fish in his mouth and features a prominent deer pattern on one side, the Huichol symbol for "Messenger of the Gods".
